Hollywood corrupts absolutely, and Mamet turns the toxic process into the year's best and smartest comedy. Go to Full Review

State and Main might be the perfect David Mamet movie for people who don't like David Mamet movies. The nice thing about it, though, is that it won't disappoint the rest of us. Go to Full Review

The film may be the sharpest of all Hollywood satires, a comedy which recognizes the equally chaotic and creative process of filmmaking, while also offering a scathing perspective on a film's behind-the-scenes challenges. Go to Full Review

May 16 There’s a lot of plot contrivance. Joe and his girlfriend’s relationship is entirely based upon the fact they are pretty much the only good people lol. I liked how wholesome their story was, and how the production of the film was the opposite. 4/5 stars. See more Narciso R 07/26/2024 Told by my film teacher, it's very much how movies are made. NRJ. See more 09/12/2022 A fun ensemble piece that satirizes the film industry. It shows the living organism that making a movie can be and the chaos that follows, no matter well prepared a production is. It's light, it's quirky and it's good time to pass an afternoon with. See more 08/22/2022 I don't know who thought this movie was entertaining at all. See more 06/09/2022 One of the wittiest comedies of all time. Mamet is always witty, even at his most serious. Here he knows how to play serious in order to let the comedy speak for itself. Sarah Jessica Parker is the only one who tries too hard to be funny. Rebecca Pidgeon is, as always, engaging as hell. See more Evan M 08/15/2021 Works on so many different levels.
