Use the Content Carousel block to display a slider of posts, pages, projects, or testimonials anywhere on your site. This guide will show you how to use it.
To add a Content Carousel block, click on the + block inserter icon and search for the Content Carousel block. Click to add the block to a page, post, or template.
For more information, visit our detailed instructions on adding blocks.
After inserting the block, it will show a slideshow of your most recent blog posts. You can change the content type to Pages, Projects, or Testimonials in the block settings.
For a piece of content to be displayed, it must meet the following requirements:
- The content must be published. Drafts will not appear.
- The content must not already be displayed elsewhere on the same page, such as in another Content Carousel block or a Blog Posts block. A post, page, or other piece of content will only appear once on a single page.
In the Content Carousel block settings, you can customize which pieces of content appear and how they appear. See the next section of this guide to learn how to customize the block settings.
When you select a block, you will find additional block settings in the right sidebar. If you do not see the sidebar, you may need to click the Settings icon in the top-right corner to bring up the settings. This icon looks like a square with two uneven columns:

The Content Carousel block has the following settings:
Here, you can choose which posts will be included in the slider.
First, choose a Mode:
- Dynamic: display items of content based on the following settings:
- Number of items: Control how many items will be displayed up to a max of 30.
- Categories: Show items with a specific category or categories, including subcategories if you wish. In the dropdown, select “is one of” if the post can have at least one of the selected categories or “is all of” if the post must contain all the selected categories.
- Tags: Show items with a specific tag only.
- Authors: Select specific authors’ content to be displayed.
- Static: Select the exact items of content to display in the slider. Begin typing any word from the title of your content. Click on an autocomplete result to select it.

- Hide Controls: Remove the play and pause options from the slideshow.
- Autoplay: Control whether the carousel automatically switches slides (disabled by default).
- Slides per view: Choose how many images appear on screen simultaneously (up to a max of 6).

- Aspect Ratio: Choose the relationship between the width and height of the images in the slider.
- Fit: Determines if the image will crop to fit (‘Cover’) or stretch to fit (‘Contain’) the available area.
- Show caption: Display or hide the featured image caption.

Here, you can choose which information appears with your content in the slider:
- Show title: Display the title.
- Show date: Controls whether the date will be displayed.
- Show category: Controls whether the category will be displayed.
- Show author: Controls whether the author’s name will be displayed.
- Show avatar: If author is shown, this controls whether the author’s profile photo will be displayed.

Choose from different content types to display in the slideshow:
- Posts (default)
- Pages
- Portfolio projects (if enabled)
- Testimonials (if enabled)

You can optionally enable drafts and scheduled content to appear in the slider. As these types of posts are not visible to the public, they will only appear when the carousel is viewed by users with editing permission on your site. This is useful for editors and admins to see how a piece of content will appear in the carousel before it is published.

For more, visit our detailed instructions on Advanced settings.
When you click on the block, a toolbar of options will appear above or below it:

The Content Carousel block contains the option to align the slider to the center and to set it to wide or full width (if supported by your site’s theme).
