  About Codex

Codex is not the future of digital cinematography, production and post. Its the "here and now".

An increasing number of people have already adopted digital workflows from capture to post. And they are reporting enormous gains in terms of speed, productivity and cost. Codex Digital is a manufacturer of high-resolution media recording and management systems which can be combined into an efficient workflow to liberate your particular production process.

The complete Codex systemNow you can capture the best-possible images from your digital motion picture camera of choice, and simplify everything that happens thereafter. More time can be spent on the creative process during the shoot and in post, whilst you save money and future-proof your production.

There are several different Codex products available which are designed to be used independently, or which can be combined to form the core components of a complete workflow system. Workflow... it's all about the workflow:

The Codex Advantage

Today, film lab, tape-transfer and courier costs are history. Time and distance are no longer significant. With Codex you can...

Immediately take complete control of your footage, from the moment it is shot. There are no delays waiting for processing or dubs. You can watch what you have shot instantly, and pass it on to any department within seconds.

Instantly playback any take in full-resolution. Codex allows immediate playback for anyone that needs it to check framing, exposure, focus, continuity you name it.

On demand compare different takes/looks on set. Only Codex Digital systems allow you to play back two shots simultaneously to make comparisons or, of course, to check stereoscopic photography. LUT and CDL1 support also let the DP and director see how the image will finally look.

Securely deliver material to whoever needs it, how they need it, on-set or worldwide. Using a secure highspeed link, such as sohonet, there is no need to risk misdirection, accident, damage or fogging of your footage. Instead everyone who needs access to the footage can have it within hours of the shoot, no matter where they are in the world. And not just as video, but also in whatever file-format they need.

Without delay review edited/graded footage. Within minutes of the shot, anyone can have the appropriate takes loaded and ready to use, with synch-sound and all the metadata. So the editor, VFX artist, sound engineer and colourist can work their magic before sending the footage back for the director to make crucial decisions.
The Codex Portable

So whether you are shooting digital film on location, working on VFX at full uncompressed resolution, offline editing sound and pictures, or simply checking shots on a laptop, Codex gives you what you need in the form you need it, when you need it - set-wide or worldwide.
