A. "Parsu" Parasuraman is an Indian-American marketing professor and author. He is a professor and the James W. McLamore Chair in Marketing at the University of Miami.[1][2]
Education
[edit]Parasuraman obtained his bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from IIT Madras and Master of Business Administration in marketing from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad in 1970 and 1972 respectively.[1][2] He then proceeded to the United States where he gained a doctorate in business Administration from Indiana University School of Business in 1975.[1]
Career
[edit]Parasuraman was one of the co-authors of the classic study on Services marketing,[3] which developed the concept of SERVQUAL. The SERVQUAL model has become fundamental in the analysis of marketing in the services sector and one of the highest cited marketing papers ever.
In recent years, Dr. A. Parasuraman has taken on an active leadership role in Indian higher education. He currently serves as the Pro-Chancellor (Academics) at Vijaybhoomi University, located in Karjat, near Mumbai. Vijaybhoomi University is India’s first institution dedicated to liberal professional education, aiming to integrate the breadth of liberal learning with the depth of professional specialization.[4] In this role, he contributes to shaping the university’s academic strategy, curriculum design, and research direction, particularly through the development of "Curriculum 4.0," a framework aligned with the evolving needs of Industry 4.0.[5]
