May 26, 2021 at 20:43 comment added Dave If you don't believe that "the bigger the better" applies to $R^2$, you cannot believe that "the smaller the better" applies to (R)MSE. Consider their equations. Both have to do with square loss. Nothing in that Minitab article, which makes valid points, makes MSE or RMSE a better performance metric than $R^2$.
