El Modelo Métrico de Rasch es un potente recurso técnico en el que subyace una nueva visión en la psicometría contemporánea. Cuando se requiere generar medidas en la investigación social, para mejorar nuestra comprensión de atributos o rasgos del comportamiento humano, es indispensable asegurar la calidad de las propiedades métricas de los instrumentos que se emplean para estos propósitos.

La metodología de Rasch proporciona las bases sólidas para establecer las propiedades necesarias y suficientes en instrumentos de medida de logro y percepción en psicología, educación, sociología, medicina; y en un amplio espectro de disciplinas en las que es necesario generar medidas fiables y válidas.

Desde mediados del siglo xx y hasta el presente, los avances en teoría cognitiva, psicometría y ciencias computacionales, se entrelazan para producir medidas lineales a partir de patrones de respuesta de personas a instrumentos diseñados para representar con fiabilidad y validez las variables de interés teórico y práctico en la investigación social aplicada. La medición Rasch es -hasta ahora- un ejemplo fundamental y prominente de esta conjunción.

En este texto se ofrece a los lectores de habla hispana, un trayecto completo que recorre la fundamentación matemática y la implementación computacional de este modelo con énfasis en la lógica de los procedimientos del análisis de propiedades métricas.
