I’d always been anxious and stressed, but in my twenties, it reached a point when I began having frequent panic attacks, which eventually led to a breakdown.
Although things eased, the stress and anxiety never went away.
I became a personal trainer, opened a women’s gym, and built it into a thriving, successful business.
I thought working hard and becoming successful was sure to fix how I was feeling on the inside.
To others, it may have seemed like things looked great, but not to me. I was working long hours, while trying to be a good Mum. I had no boundaries, and was a chronic people pleaser. I made no time for myself, no hobbies, and felt desperate.
I so wanted to feel healthy, and be consistent with it, yet I was on a constant diet and obsessed with food. Everything was very all-or-nothing for me... food, alcohol, exercise, comfort eating... with no consistency no matter how good my intentions were.
COVID hit, and I moved the gym online. One day, during an online class, I asked my clients to repeat an affirmation with me: “I’m safe, I’m loved, I’m enough.”
After that session, I closed my laptop, and broke down in tears.
Saying those words out loud hit me like a ton of bricks because, deep down, I didn’t feel safe, or loved, or that I was enough.
It was like a lightbulb went off, and I realised that all the stress, overwhelm, and anxiety I’d been carrying for years were at the root of everything.
I’d been building my healthy habits on shaky foundations—foundations of stress and overwhelm.
So, I began focusing on reducing my stress and anxiety through meditation, journaling, and breathwork. Over time, I became calm and grounded, and my healthy habits became simple and easy.
That’s what inspired me to create Thrive Academy.
In creating Thrive Academy, I took everything I learned—from calming my mind with breathwork to building consistent healthy habits—and turned it into a step-by-step system to help other women do the same.
"Joining Thrive Academy was a great decision. I love the convenience and simplicity of it.
I work out 3 times a week in my home. I’ve learned simple tools to deal with stress and calm my thoughts. By sticking to the process of Physical Activity, Accountability, Hydration, Mental Health and Self Care, I have grown healthy, happy habits by committing to simple daily actions. There’s no weighing scales, no ‘bad’ foods and yet over the past 10 months my favourite dresses fit with ease.
Although the Coaching is online, there’s nothing remote about it. I really feel part of the group in the WhatsApp and the checkin calls. We can all relate to each other’s struggles- there’s no judgement, only support- and joy for our wins.
